Album Review: Five Easy Hot Dogs

Five Easy Hot Dogs, Mac Demarco’s first instrumental album released on January 20th. The Indie Rock/Pop musician usually constructs mellow songs including lyrics about life and love. Demarco canceled his fall tour in order to finish Five Easy Hot Dogs. He decided to travel while making this collection of songs, not returning home until the project was completed. Mac named each song after the location they were made in. While fans miss his usual sound, it is still an enjoyable listen. The calm energy throughout the album is perfect for studying, relaxing, or multitasking. My personal favorites are “Gualala”, “Portland 2”, “Vancouver”, “Edmonton”, and “Chicago 2”.
